Feb 18, 23, 25   Camellia Walks 10AM - The camellia walks showcase all of the beautiful camellia trees that arch the walkways through the main garden.
Mar 3 - 10   Wild Azalea Hike daily - 10AM - The Wild Azalea Hiking Trail flourishes in March and early April. The Flowering Dogwoods and Fringe Trees intertwine with the azaleas.
Mar 3   Spring Volunteer Days - 8:00 AM - Bring your gloves and your passion and pick your favorite area to help. Whether it’s in one of the gardens or on the trails, there are plenty of choices and chores to be done. All help is greatly appreciated to help us prepare for a new season. This is a great opportunity for scouts, schools and service organizations to earn community service credits or for garden lovers to help maintain the quality of the gardens.
Mar 3   Stargazing - 9:00 PM - Meet Park Ranger Barbara Savell at the Red Barn for a night of gazing at the stars. With the New Moon, this location offers darkness that is ideal for using the large Orion telescope.
Mar 10   Moonlight Garden Tour - 9:00 PM - Meet us at the gift shop for a tour of the gardens by the light of the full moon.
Mar 12 - 16   Wild Azalea Hike daily - 10AM - The Wild Azalea Hiking Trail flourishes in March and early April. The Flowering Dogwoods and Fringe Trees intertwine with the azaleas.
Mar 17   Painting in the Park - 9AM-12PM and 1PM-4PM - (Other dates and times are available upon request!) Join Lori Hopkins for this new program designed to inspire. You will be shown step-by-step how to paint a picture. The gardens will be inspirational with their beauty and color. There are different locations that can capture the tranquility of the gardens but Look-Out-Tower is the prime spot for garden atmosphere. With or without artistic ability, you will paint your own masterpiece! Limited painting supplies will be available (such as colors). (Feel free to bring your own paint and materials if desired) Easels, canvases, paint brushes, and paints will be provided.

Mar 24   Star Party 6PM -12AM - Hosted by the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society, the Star Party has become an annual event that brings hundreds to the park to view the night sky through powerful telescopes. The group moved their annual party to Hodges in 2009. They are inviting the public to join them on Saturday night, March 24th. We will meet at the greenhouse parking lot at 6PM. Participants should wear comfortable shoes for the half mile hike to the viewing field. Only flashlights with red beams are allowed, no white lights, especially from cell phones. This is a fun family event!
Mar 26 - 30   Camellia Walk - 10AM and Edible Flowers - 1PM daily - In the mornings, walk the main gardens and admire the camellias that are over 50 years old and/or join us in the afternoon for an Edible Flower Tour (Herb Garden). Learn to spice up your salads and entrees with color and zest!
Mar 31   Spring Fling Festival 10AM-4PM - The fun-filled day among the dogwoods and azaleas will begin with a 5K run and the "Loop Run", for those brave enough to attempt the 5-mile loop around the park. Louisiana artists will showcase their works throughout the gardens and provide guests with an opportunity to view and purchase fine art, as well as to meet and talk to the artists. Custom and antique cars also will be on display and the audience will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite car. Vendors will be set up to provide food and refreshments and live music will fill the gardens.

Apr 7   Herb Garden Planting - 9:30AM - Learn what to plant for your herb garden. Find out which herbs have the most versatility and flavor.
Apr 7   Easter Activities - 1PM - An afternoon of family fun! The annual Duck Races at the high waterfall kick off the activities. The plastic ducks start at the top of the waterfall and make their way down the stream to the finish line. Bring your Easter Basket for the egg hunt. The Easter Bunny will be making a special appearance again this year!
Apr 8   Sunrise Easter Service - 6AM - This is the ultimate Easter Sunrise Service presented by the Centenary College Choir and joined by surrounding church and community choirs. As the sun peaks over the lake, the angelic sounds of the choir fill the park. The gates will close promptly at 5:45AM so that the service is not interrupted. Please arrive early!

Apr 17   Vintage Chevrolet Club - 10AM - We are proud to welcome the Vintage Chevrolet Club. These cars have been restored and their owners are proud to show them off. They are going to be in the park between 10AM and Noon. Come visit with the owners and enjoy the gardens.

Apr 21 - 22   Kite Flying - 1PM - Bring your kite and join us at the airstrip to celebrate National Kite Month! We’ll fill the sky with color.

Apr 23 - 27   10AM - Come stroll with us through the 50 year old gardens and learn about its rich history. April is one of the best months to visit as the Spring colors light up the "Garden in the Forest".
