Miss Zwolle Loggers and Forestry Queen
Leanna Kay Anderson - 2000-2001

2000-2001 Zwolle Loggers and Forestry Festival Queen

The voice at the end of the table was abrupt and filled with excitement. "You have a healthy baby girl," said Dr. Richard J. Oosta. It was Friday, September 7, 1979, at 10:35 p.m. Jimmy Carter was president, Sabine Parish was celebrating its 100th anniversary, The Gambler was popular on the radio and everyone was disco dancing. A dazed mother was heard repeating, "It's a little girl." Somewhere in the room a smiling father talking to himself said, "That's my daughter."

Leanna Kay Anderson was born that night to Ellzy and Dot Anderson of Zwolle, La. It had been 13 years since her brother Michael Ellzy Anderson was born and 16 years since James Jefferson Anderson was born. She was destined to be unique and much loved.

Zwolle has always been home for Leanna. From kindergarten to high school she is quick to praise her teachers for the great part they have played in her education. We have watched her go from frills and lace, piano playing, tea parties, to cross-country running, track, and basketball courts. In 1998 she graduated with honors from Zwolle High School, under the administration of William Ruffin. Her hobbies are collecting dolls and ladybug memorabilia. She loves spending time on Toledo Bend Lake, whether it's on the family barge or flying across the waves on her jet ski.

Today, Leanna resides in Natchitoches, La. the beautiful City of Lights. She lives in her own mobile home nestled among some tall pine trees in Whispering Pines Trailer Park. Her home is not a typical college kids pad. When one enters her neat and spacious home they find a hint of Victorian decor. Bird houses, angels, dolls, and ladybugs can be found as well as many beautifully framed photos of her family and friends.

She is a Political Science major enrolled at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La. Minoring in Criminal Justice she hopes to continue her education in Baton Rouge, La. going into the world of law. She has entered her junior year for the 2000 fall semester. She is a member of NSU Phi Mu Fraternity, Student Government Board, SGA Committee Head Chairperson, and the Spanish Club.

June 3, 2000, Leanna was crowned as the Annual 2000 Zwolle Loggers and Forestry Festival Queen. Her duties are to reign over the festival, which is always held the 2nd weekend of June.
